The Zoran Djindjic Foundation in the cooperation with the Faculty of Political Sciences at University of Belgrade and the Department of politics and public administration at University of Konstanz initiated the project titled ''Summer School on European integration and democratization'' in 2014.
The Summer school is organized for 24 student participants at graduate level, including 12 from the University of Belgrade and 12 from the University of Konstanz. All participants will be selected by an application process Students will have the opportunity to discuss with eminent proffesors from both universities discuss key issues of EU integration with a special focus on Western Balkans’ stabilization and approximation process. Thereby, they will develop analytical skills to understand and reflect complex transition challenges and dilemmas.
The main goals of the schools are: (1) description and evaluation of the different theories and conceptualizations of democratization, state-building, and European integration; (2) recognition and analysis of the key factors in facilitating democratization and European integration; (3) demonstration an understanding of Western Balkan conflict history and recent political developments in the region with regard to regional cooperation and conflict management.
To apply for the summer school, interested candidates have to hand in a curriculum vitae, a transcript of study records and a motivational letter. The project is implemented on the international lever, therefore the application must be written in English, otherwise it would not be taken into consideration.
The first Summer school was held in July 2014 in Belgrade and the second school is planned to be organized in July 2014 in Kostanz.
