The Zoran Djindjic launched in the cooperation with the Austrian Development Agency and the organization World University Service Austria (WUS) Experiencing Europe: Serbian Young Professionals in Austria – Zoran Djindjic Internship Programme in 2007. The goal of the program was to offer to young people from Serbia the opportunity to gain practical experience which is going to be a milestone for the further development of their career in Serbian companies, after their return in Serbia. By giving gifted young individuals the chance to live and work in Austria, the project not only aims at improving the participants' chances to find rewarding and fulfilling jobs; it also tries to raise awareness and understanding in Serbia of the overall chances and challenges of European integration.
The programme was the result of the commitment of Austria to continue supporting the Foundation's work and the development of other projects which are also implemented by the Foundation. Students and young experts spent two weeks at the University of Graz where they attended not just the intensive course of German language, but also the lectures on European integration processes. After preparatory week in Graz, 40 selected candidates served the three-month internships at the Austrian institutions and companies.
After four years of the successful implementation, due to focus changes of the development assistance in Serbia provided by the Austrian Development Agency, the programme has been cancelled in 2011.
